So, anyone want to buy a 95 F-150 4x4? It's fully loaded! LOL. I don't want to buy something that doesn't say Ford Chevy or Dodge on the front of it, ya know? Yeah, I know the Suzuki is the same thing, and I know a lot of "American" vehicles are made in Mexico or somewhere 's just a mental thing. I can't envision towing anything with it anyhow, so I'm leaning more towards the 4 cylinder. On the highway, the 4 cylinder is rated to get 5 mpg more than the 6. I think the 6 would be nice, but the difference in the mileage ratings is incredible. The 6 cylinder is a 2.5L, 155hp (at 6000 rpms, nonetheless), and 165 lb/ft torque (at 4000 rpms). The 4 cylinder in them now is a 2.0L.127hp, 134 lb/ft torque. ![]() I drove one on a really windy day and it was very settled (moreso than my F150, in fact). The newer Trackers drive really nice, surprisingly enough. Just something to consider in your quest. I knwo it's not "American", but who knows if the Tracker is either, you may find it's also made outside the US, and the Suzuki might be made in the US. They are cheap, do come in an auto, and have tons of support. I know you didn't mention anything about lifts, but it's always on my mind. The bolt pattern on the wheels is also the same as the jeeps. I have seen rigs running 31's on a combination of body and suspension lift, they look cool. Lifting them is also fairly cheap, but there is a limit with the front IFS. I traded it in and got the Trooper, which is a larger version, but I miss the mpg, I get about 14 now. We had no problems with it, and working on it was easy as well. It performed very well on and off road, and would flex awesome. The front was IFS, but find one without it nowadays. The rear was a solid axle, with aftermarket support (LSD, Lockers, etc), and coil sprung off the full frame. It has an actual transfer case you have to shift a lever on, so no buttons, and 5.12 gears in the pumpkins. It has the 1.6 motor, got 32 mph with a 5 speed stick, and would cruise at 85 for extended periods of time (like the 14 hour trip from here to Ohio). I can't speak for the Tracker, but the Sidekick (4dr) was an awesome little rig. Is the Tracker separate from the Suzuki's now? I know in the mid 90's ('95/'96) they were exactly the same thing, we used to have a '94. Moneyless, Will weld for jeep accessories. So does anyone have one/have exposure to one? Any ideas? ![]() Yes, I know the Tracker shares a platform with the Suzuki, but at least it's a Chevy and not a _. What else? Escape? Cheesy platform based on AWD mazda 626. Cherokee? Yeah, but the mileage sucks (my brother has one). Yeah, I know a 4cyl TJ would kind of fit the bill, but I'm not wild about the hardtops, I think they're overpriced, and I'd really like the extra wheelbase of a Tracker-esque 4 door, not to mention the extra interior room and extra doors. I'd really like to stick with an American truck. What I'm looking for is reviews of vehicles (specifically the Tracker) and other ideas. Get the 4cylinder, an auto, ABS, AC, and a few niceties, and they're still pretty cheap (probably pick up one that's a year or two old). It seems to me like the answer is something on the order of a 4door Chevy Tracker. I'd like a decent motor, a nice ride, a quiet ride, and for once, an automatic. I need something that will get really good mileage.I'd like to have some real interior needs to be 4wd (preferably real 4wd, not subaru awd or RAV4 AWD). Ok, the time has come for a new vehicle in the lineup.
